China University of Mining andTechnology cultural festival has grown into an annual landmark event drawinghundreds of International and Chinese students together to enjoy and experiencethe beauty of culture diversity. Thecultural festival creates a platform for social interaction, showcasing oftalents and cultural exchange among university students. During these eventsinternational students experience great deal of excitement . The culturalfestival include an outdoor program, dances,songs and displaying of traditional arts.
This year cultural festival was held on November 16, 2014 at the center square of the Nanhu campus, Xuzhou . CUMT was the main sponsor of the event along with severe supporting by International College and the Communist Youth League.
As normally done a representation of each country were presented . And theVice Party Committee secretary of CUMT-- Dexin along withthe Directors of related departments attended the Opening Ceremony,after which the Secretary of International CollegeZhenkang Zhanggraced the occasion with an opening remark.
The cultural festival was gracedby an outdoor program which started at 9:45 am. It included members from theuniversity teaching staff, the Chinese student community along withinternational students from forty countries which include Australia,Bangladesh, Brazil, Benin, Cambodia, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, CongoDR, Comoros, East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, France, Grenada, Ghana, Germany,Laos, Liberia, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mongolia, Mozambique,Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Korea, South Sudan,Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Vietnam, United States of America, Uganda, Yemen, Zambiaand Zimbabwe respectively.
Highlighting this year culturalfestival, the new campus center square woke up to the sound of beautiful WestAfrican Jambe drum, from the republic of Togo which was just the beginning ofexcitement, joy and laughter.
Subsequently, the event wasproceeded by exciting performance from traditional Vietnamese dance, Chinese traditionalsong and the exhibition of traditional food from all countries represented. Manymore took the stage for art and dance performance which was accompany bytraditional national custom and rhythm from various countries. An amazing performance from the internationaland Chinese students took the attentive audience into unstoppable applaud.
The event was climax bycombination of cultural performance of international students and Chinese whichprove the hospitality of CUMT. Many students after the cultural festival appreciatedtheir time in CUMT and hope to gain a better understanding of the rich Chinesecultural through the CUMT international cultural festival showcase.
