“As Dynamic as a Tiger, Let’s Greet Spring with Wings up”—The 2022 International Students Cultural Perception Activity with the Chinese New Year


The 2022  International Students Cultural Perception Activity with the Chinese New Year was successfully held on January 25, the Minor Lunar New Year, with the theme As Dynamic as a Tiger, Lets Greet Spring with Wings up”. Professor Bian Zhengfu, Vice President of China University of Mining and Technology, Song Bing, Director of the School Party Committee's Security Office, Li Defu, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office, Chen Liang, Deputy Director of the International Office, Li Honghai, Vice Dean of the International College, teacher representatives, and all the international students gathered at the Academic Activities Exchange Center at Wenchang Campus to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

The event included two sections: "DIY" dumplings and a teacher-student tea party. To begin with, the international students were kept highly engaged by the teachers, from rolling wraps to packing stuffing. Notwithstanding the fact that the dumplings were finished in various shapes, the students smiled and proclaimed that they would be "the most distinctive dumplings."

Deputy Director Chen Liang extended heartwarming greetings to all the international students who remained in the school at the start of the tea party between teachers and students, and highly acknowledged the outstanding achievements of them in the previous year, while also encouraging the students to make great strides in the coming new year.
During her speech, Deputy Director Chen Liang said they will exceed expectations and work to create and promote a community with a common destiny for all humanity. Vice President Professor Bian Zhengfu introduced traditional Chinese customs to students in simple and easy language from the origin of the Minor New Year to the entire Spring Festival period, and expanded New Year's greetings to all the international students on behalf of China University of Mining and Technology.

Vice President Bian and the leaders and professors of various offices handed out New Year's red envelopes to the international students who stayed in school, and the atmosphere at the scene reached a climax, much to the delight of the students.

The international students enjoyed the beautiful singing and dancing performance while tasting the steaming dumplings. There was a lot of laughter and a strong festival atmosphere on the site. All the students rushed to take photographs, recorded the amazing moments, and sent them to distant family and friends to share their excitement and happiness at China University of Mining and Technology.

International students from all over the world, speaking different languages and having varied skin colors, are all connected at this time solely because of the "Spring Festival".

This event not only allowed international students to experience the warmth of a large family at China University of Mining and Technology, but it also allowed more international students to learn about the depths of Chinese traditional culture. The International College has taken advantage of some traditional Chinese festivals in recent years, guiding students to understand customs and Chinese culture through various traditional festivals, and insisting on promoting the international dissemination of traditional Chinese culture.
