On the 8th of September, 2023, to arrange the improvement of Chinese language proficiency for international students in China, a preparatory meeting was held in Conference Room 2204 of International College Building. This meeting was presided by Li Honghai, Vice Dean and Deputy Clerk of the college, with the presence of all teachers from Teaching Management Office Chinese Language Teachers Office, and International Students Affairs Office.

During the meeting, Cui Xiaopeng, Director of Teaching Management Office, made a brief introduction on the significance of enhancing Chinese language proficiency for international students and offered an in-depth explanation of 2023-2024 work plan for improving Chinese language competence among international students. Engaged in a profound discourse on the enhancement of Chinese linguistic aptitude for our students, they offered constructive view points and recommendations.

The teachers from Chinese Language Teachers Office suggested that they would further strengthen the teaching and training of Chinese language for international students in various forms, such as carrying out Chinese Corner activities to help them improve their Chinese language fluency. The student supervisors also said that they would actively participate in cultural exchange activities to help the international students better understand Chinese culture and enhance reciprocal comprehension and friendship.

At the end of the meeting, Li Honghai made a concluding statement. He affirmed the efforts made by each office in enhancing the Chinese language proficiency of students. Then he continued that the enhancement of Chinese language proficiency among international students is a crucial mission for the International College. All relevant personnel are expected to strictly adhere to the program's requirements and fulfill all tasks on time to ensure the effective implementation of this mission. Meanwhile, he stressed the college's commitment to amplify its support for international students by providing them with advanced educational resources and services to facilitate their growth and development in China.

With the joint effort of our college's offices, including Teaching Management Office, Chinese Language Teachers’ Office, and International Students’ Affairs Office, high-quality pedagogical resources and services will be provided to help our students better adapt to the life in China and to improve their cross-cultural communication skills. At the same time, this meeting also enhanced the ability of our college to communicate and cooperate with foreign countries, which laid a solid foundation for its international development.
