To further strengthen fire safety education on campus, enhance fire awareness among faculty and students, and improve their self-protection and emergency response capabilities, the International College actively organized Chinese and international faculty and students to watch the live broadcast of the 2025 Spring National Fire Safety Public Course at 9:00 AM on March 18.
The webinar delivered comprehensive fire safety education through dynamic teaching methods, combining classroom instruction, simulated experiments, case studies, and hands-on training. Key topics included fire risk prevention in high-risk campus areas, emergency evacuation protocols, proper use of fire extinguishing equipment, and critical first-response methods for containing early-stage fires. Additionally, the course incorporated immersive fire scene experiences and 3D smokemodeling experiment, providing intuitive understanding of fire hazards and proper emergencyresponse strategies. Duringthesession, attendees listened intently, sparked dynamic discussions and gained adeeperappreciationoftheimportanceoffiresafety.
During the post-session discussion, Dean Li Honghai, Secretary of the Party Committee of the International College, emphasized thatLife is a live broadcast with no replay button. He highlighted that international students travel thousands of miles to study at CUMT, making safety their top priority. “Every fire incident stems from a chain of contributing factors — intervening at any single link could prevent disaster.” Dean Li urged all faculty and students to internalize lessons from past accidents, mandating concrete actions: Faculty and staff must strengthen safety accountability, identify potential hazards, control risks, and improve emergency response protocols through continuous learning and intensified efforts. Meanwhile, international students are expected to rigorously implement hazard screenings, refine risk prevention measures, and address safety vulnerabilities at their root.
Oumar, a Burkina Faso master's student and international student safety representative, shared his thoughts on the course: “This training equipped me with actionable fire safety knowledge. Moving forward, I'll actively remind peers to prioritize safety details in daily campus life— because being your own first line of defense isn’t optional, it’s essential.”
