CSCA

I. Introduction to CSCA

China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) is a standardized test designed for international students who plan to pursue undergraduate degrees in China.

Organized by China Scholarship Council (CSC) and jointly developed with experts from Chinese universities, CSCA assesses students’ language proficiency and academic readiness, helping them better prepare for undergraduate studies in China.

CSCA is also an important reference used by Chinese universities in their admission and scholarship evaluation processes.

II. Test Subjects
CSCA includes four subjects: Professional Chinese, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

1. Professional Chinese

1) Professional Chinese is mandatory for programs taught in Chinese, with two test options: Humanities Chinese and STEM Chinese.

2) Applicants applying for undergraduate degree programs taught entirely in English are exempt from the Professional Chinese test.

3) Applicants applying for undergraduate degree programs in Chinese Language who can provide a valid HSK Level 4 score report may be exempted from the Professional Chinese test.

2. Mathematics (Mandatory)
Mathematics is a mandatory subject for all applicants, regardless of whether they are applying for Chinese-taught or English-taught programs.

3. Physics and Chemistry (Optional)
Applicants applying for science or engineering programs must choose at least one of these two subjects.
