On the afternoon of July 28, the International College held the Opening Ceremony of “2023 Chinese Summer Camp 2023(II)” at the Student Activity Centre of Wenchang Campus, welcoming a total of 19 students from Russia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
First, Professor Wu Gefei, the Dean of the International College, delivered the opening speech, in which he introduced the development history of China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) and its brilliant achievements to all the students. He encouraged the students to learn Chinese language and experience the Chinese culture in the following two weeks. He wished them a rewarding and worthwhile trip.
Following the speech, the performances were began by Yu nandar shwe, a student from Myanmar, with a cheerful song Waiting for You. Students from Russia performed the popular Russian song The most beautiful Moscow night in Chinese and Russian, accompanied by piano, which has won the applause of the audience. Next was the game part, in which the audience was divided into three groups to play a group game You Draw, I Guess. After 20 rounds, the 1st prize was taken home by a multinational duo from Bangladesh and Nepal. Three Thai students then sang an English song A Whole New World, which touched deeply the whole audience. Finally, EVANS IMOUDU IZEDOMI from Nigeria rounded off the show with the song Fight 4 U.
The International College hopes to help more international students to see, explore and love China by organizing short-term summer camps, and contribute to the communication between China and other countries.
