In order to effectively enhance the fire safety awareness and self-rescue capacity of all the teachers and students, and to guarantee their life and property security, on the afternoon of June 21st, the International College held a fire drill in the international student apartment.
On that day, the fire drill started. Taking the student apartment as the simulated fire site, fire smoke bombs were lit in the corresponding simulated location as the fire point. At the fire drill site, smoke rolled out in the student's apartment. In the face of "sudden fire", international students were guided by teachers to evacuate in an orderly manner according to safe routes. In the process of evacuation, teachers and students acted quickly and properly, and evacuated orderly. Prof. Wu Gefei, the dean of the International College, reminded everyone: "You have come all the way to China. No matter what happened, you should put personal safety in the first place. I hope you enhance the awareness of fire safety, and start from yourself, preventing danger before it occurred."
After the fire drill, the teacher from the school’s security office introduced and demonstrated how to use a fire extinguisher, after which everyone acted quickly, experiencing the operation of fight extinguishers. Students can feel the difference in operation brought about by the change of equipment in the process of the drill, as well as understand the knowledge of firefighting such as self-inspection of fire hazards.
The fire drill activity helped our teachers and students master the basic knowledge of fire prevention, evacuation, and firefighting. What’s more, it not only improved the proficiency of teachers and students in using fire-fighting equipment, but also further enhanced their awareness of fire safety and ability of self-help and self-prevention when a sudden fire happened. All of these help to lay a solid foundation for the campus fire safety and stability.
