On October 23rd, the third short-term  camp  of China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) in 2023  held by the International College came to a satisfactory close.  The  camp  lasted 14 days. 32 teachers and students from Thailand studied Chinese, explored the cultural attractions of the two Han dynasties, tasted the local food of Xuzhou, learned about the scientific and technological frontiers of  CUMT , and experienced the unique charm of large-scale enterprises in China. In the diversified and rich-content activities, they gained an in-depth understanding of the long history of the Chinese nation, and felt the modern elegance of the high-quality development of China.

At the graduation ceremony, the students first reviewed this short but fulfilling journey through the video. Kalaya Somphopsakul said, “We had a very fulfilling time every day, and we really don't want it to end. We are very grateful to the teachers of China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) for their hard work and enthusiastic help to each of us, and hope that we can have the opportunity to study at CUMT in the future”.

Ms. Meng Lei, Director of the Admission and Program Management Office of the International College, gave the students a closing message and issued a certificate of completion. She said that the students’ attitude of learning Chinese seriously and actively participating in the cultural activities was unanimously recognized by the teachers of the International College. She also hoped that the students could bring this experience back to their own countries, where they can continue to learn Chinese language, love Chinese culture, and become the spreader and bridge of Sino-Thai friendship.

Afterwards, two students, Kansinee Lerttaviljir and Warinthron Pakdee, presented their Chinese calligraphy works “High Mountains and Flowing Water” and “The Flourishing of All Cultures” respectively, and Mr. Guo Renjie brought a wonderful saxophone performance “Drunk in the Sunset”. Amid the beautiful melody, the students started the last activity “Dumpling Making”. Under the guidance of the teachers, the students learned the skills of making dumplings from each other and finished the delicious dumplings together, leaving behind wonderful memories.

The work group was praised by the Thai teachers and students in terms of teaching, cultural arrangement, exchange between Chinese and Thai students, service guarantee, etc. The work group played a positive role in telling a good Chinese story, promoting mutual understanding and respect among different cultures, and fostering mutual understanding between Chinese and Thai students.
