On November 5th, the international college organized more than 20 international students from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and other countries to go to the Dashahe town, Feng County which is known as "Fruit Capital of Northern Jiangsu Province", to carry out apple picking practice activities. The goal of this activity is to enable international students to deeply understand the current situation of China's agricultural and rural development and the story of rural revitalization of high-quality development.
The red apples in the orchard were full of branches, and each apple was bagged to avoid pesticide pollution. It was the first time for most of the international students to come to a countryside orchard, and they were very curious about this picking activity, often stopping to enjoy the rural scenery. Besides, the breeze and rain added a different kind of fun to this picking. Before the start of the picking activities, the orchard staff introduced in detail the development of the orchard and the planting of fruit trees, focusing on telling the varieties of apples and picking precautions. During picking, students collaborated and actively shared their picking skills and experiences, laughing and enjoying themselves, which enhanced their friendship.
This picking activity not only let the international students taste the sweetness of Dashahe apples and experience the joy of fruit farmers' harvest, but also let the students witness the practical achievements of China's new rural construction. They feel the "integration of agriculture and tourism", a new mode of China's modern agricultural development, which further promotes international students’ understanding and recognition of the economic and social development of contemporary China. The students have expressed that they have a strong interest in the green development of orchard economy in northern Jiangsu Province, and that this industrial model combining local specialties of agriculture and tourism industry is worthy of reference. The international college will continue to review experience and lead more international students to experience the real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China through field visits and spread the most vivid voice of China.
