On December 20, the opening ceremony of the 2023 “Chinese Bridge” Winter Camp was successfully held at CUMT. It was supported by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and co-hosted by the International College of CUMT and the Han Culture Center Malaysia. This is also the second time for CUMT to host this winter camp this year. The aim of this camp is to promote the communication and friendship between the youth of China and Malaysia, and to show the charm of Chinese language and culture to the world.
At the opening ceremony, teachers and students from the Han Culture Center Malaysia and CUMT gathered together to witness this historic moment. Zhang Zhenkang, Director of International Office, and Wu Gefei, Dean of International College, attended the opening ceremony.
Zhang Zhenkang pointed out that this winter camp was an important platform for the exchange between Chinese and Malaysian youths, and an excellent opportunity to promote cultural integration and deepen friendship. He hoped that this activity could deepen the understanding of friends from Malaysia about Chinese culture, and also built a bridge for our students to communicate with international friends.
Wu Gefei emphasized that this event was a grand activity jointly organized by CUMT and Han Culture Center Malaysia to promote educational exchanges between China and Malaysia and enhance the friendship between the two peoples. The aim of “Chinese Bridge” Winter Camp is to make more Malaysian junior high school students know more about China and CUMT.
Gao Meiqing, the leading teacher of Han Culture Center Malaysia, expressed her expectation for this camp and her gratitude to CUMT for hosting this event. She said that a valuable opportunity would be provided for Malaysian teachers and students to have a deeper comprehension of Chinese language and culture through this “Chinese Bridge” Winter Camp. At the same time, she believed that it would actively promote further achievements in educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Malaysia.
Sun Bingfang, representative of the teachers of International College, Luo Zhiying, representative of Malaysian students in CUMT, and Liang Yuxuan, representative of the students of the winter camp of Han Culture Center Malaysia, gave speeches successively.
During this opening ceremony, Wu Gefei gave the flag of the winter camp to Gao Meiqing. The flag is not only a symbol of this winter camp, but also a reflection of the spirit of solidarity, friendship and pursuit of excellence of CUMT.
Finally, the International College student supervisor and our international students performed wonderful shows.
This winter camp was a new attempt at Sino-Malaysian cultural exchange and another milestone for the International College of CUMT in promoting international education. It not only reflects the university’s firm determination to promote Sino-foreign educational cooperation and exchange, but also demonstrates the university’s strong strength.
Through this activity, CUMT will continue to deepen the cooperation and exchange with international educational institutions. It will promote the high-quality development of the university’s education for studying in China, and promote the globalization of Chinese language and Chinese culture.
