Recently, the Chinese mentoring courses for international students during the winter vacation of the 2023-2024 semesters concluded successfully at the International College. The Chinese lessons were organized by the Teaching Management Office, the Chinese Language Teachers’ Office and the International Students Affairs Office. They provided diversified learning methods for the international students, enriched the students’ life during the vacation, and helped them to take progress further in improving their Chinese language proficiency.

During this period, the international students actively engaged in the HSK mentoring course under the guidance the Chinese teachers. They received comprehensive training in listening, speaking, reading and writing to enhance their Chinese language skills. At the same time, the students studied in the HSK computer lab and gained a deeper understanding of the HSK test by simulating the test experience, resulting in good results. To address any challenges faced by international students during their Chinese language studies, our teachers established a Q&A room to foster a conducive learning environment.

In addition, for the students enrolled in Chinese Language Pre-University Programs, the activity established a Chinese learning assignment. It required students to complete the task online within the specified time. This helped students supervise and encourage each other to ensure they can learn Chinese every day.

Through this Chinese mentoring courses, our international students have not only enhanced their comprehension of the HSK exam, but have also enjoyed a joyful and rewarding vacation experience with their teachers and peers. Besides, this experience has laid a strong groundwork for their future academic pursuits and personal development. Our institution is committed to offering a wider range of Chinese language learning support for our international students, striving to excel in the delivery of Chinese language instruction and academic support, and enhancing the proficiency of our international students in Chinese language.
