Thirty international students from our university were invited to Xuzhou’s Guishan Scenic Area for a uniquely designed cultural immersion activity, aimed at deepening their understanding of traditional Chinese culture through hands-on exploration.

The day began at the Imperial Decree Museum. Stepping into the museum felt like traveling through time, surrounded by a strong historical atmosphere. The museum’s extensive collection of imperial decrees and precious artifacts left the students in awe. At the museum, they not only viewed these historical treasures up close but also dressed in exquisite Hanfu to appreciate ancient attire. They personally experienced traditional craftsmanship by making rubbings: laying rice paper on engraved plates, gently tapping with rubbing tools, and savoring the unique charm of this art form amid the fragrance of ink and paper.

Next, they explored the Han Dynasty Tomb at Guishan, a 2,000-year-old underground palace. Its grand scale and exquisite carvings showcased the wisdom and creativity of Han Dynasty artisans. As they walked through the tomb passages, the students carefully observed murals, carvings, and burial artifacts, frequently expressing admiration.

After the event, the students shared that they had gained immensely from this experience. They not only witnessed the splendor of ancient Chinese culture firsthand but also developed a more intuitive and profound understanding of traditional Chinese culture through interactive participation. SHAHAD from the Republic of Yemen remarked, “This activity was amazing! I wore Hanfu, made rubbings, and visited the incredible Guishan Han Tomb. This is one of the most unforgettable experiences I've had in China!”

Moving forward, we will continue organizing such cultural immersion activities, offering international students more opportunities to learn about Chinese culture and promote cultural exchange and integration between China and other nations.
