To help international students immerse themselves in traditional Chinese culture, our college organized a special Dragon Boat Festival cultural immersion activity on May 30th. Over 40 students from 25 countries enthusiastically participated.
The highlight was the zongzi-making session. The college prepared glutinous rice, bamboo leaves, jujubes, and other ingredients. Under the guidance of instructors, students learned to fold leaves, fill them, and tie them, crafting zongzi in various shapes. In the midst of zongzi fragrance permeating everywhere, they experienced the charm of this traditional delicacy. Noor from Pakistan shared, “Making zongzi myself helped me understand the festival’s customs and culture—it was fascinating!”
Festival-themed group activities were also held. A “Dragon Boat Quiz” tested knowledge of the festival’s origins and traditions, while a “Land Dragon Boat Race” challenged teamwork. Students collaborated seamlessly, “paddling” with laughter and cheers, deeply appreciating the spirit of unity.
Through hands-on practice and interactive games, this event brought textbook knowledge of the Dragon Boat Festival to life. It fostered cultural understanding and exchange between Chinese and international students, leaving them with unforgettable memories and building a warm bridge for cultural connection.
