On the morning of October 26, the 11th International Cultural Festival of China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) grandly kicked off at Youth Square. With the theme of One World, Shared Joy, the festival aims to promote the integration of diverse cultures and broaden the international perspective of teachers and students. Bian Zhengfu, Vice President of China University of Mining and Technology, relevant officials from several universities in Xuzhou, and heads of multiple departments of China University of Mining and Technology attended the opening ceremony.

Mr.Bian Zhengfu announced the opening of the 11th International Cultural Festival. Li Honghai, Dean of the International College and Director of the International Student Management Office, delivered an opening speech on behalf of the organizer.

In front of the exhibition area, international students from 34 countries elaborately set up national booths. These booths displayed characteristic cultural elements such as traditional costumes, handicrafts and local cuisines of various countries, attracting nearly 10,000 teachers and students to stop by, experience exotic cultures and taste featured foods. Meanwhile, 4 Chinese traditional culture experience zones were set up at the event site. Traditional cultural activities including paper fan making, calligraphy, sugar painting and aromatherapy also attracted many teachers and students to line up for participation.

On the stage, more than 100 Chinese and foreign students jointly presented a feast of cultural integration. The event kicked off with the traditional Chinese dragon and lion dance, followed by the classic song We Are The World sung by international students from 32 countries. Performances such as I Love You, China and My Heart Will Go On by Jiangsu Normal University, Xuzhou Medical University and Xuzhou University of Technology, as well as The Moon Represents My Heart, Katyusha and Hanfu Performance by International Students by CUMT students, demonstrated the unique charm of multi-cultural exchange and integration. A series of shows including Kazakh national dance, Moroccan dance, Russian national dance, Thai northeastern dance and Pakistani song and dance brought the audience into vivid and colorful cultural worlds. Traditional Chinese performances such as Blue and White Porcelain and If There Is Love in Heaven also struck a chord with the audience, with prolonged applause lingering on.

CUMTs International Cultural Festival has gone through more than a decade since 2013. It has now developed into a multi-cultural integration platform that brings the world to CUMT and takes CUMT to the world.

It is reported that after the opening ceremony, a series of events of this years International Cultural Festival will be held successively and will run until the end of December.
