As part of the “Han Style New Year · Cross-Cultural Reunion” series, CUMT international students embarked on a cultural heritage tour in Xuzhou on January 22.

The journey began at the Sanzi Cultural Museum. Students discovered that Sanzi, a golden thread-like snack, originated in the Han Dynasty and symbolizes reunion and good fortune. Watching master artisans transform dough into delicate, crispy strands was a mesmerizing experience.

In the afternoon, students got hands-on at the Creative Hands-On Dream Factory. They tried traditional Paper Cutting, crafting intricate red window grilles under an artisan's guidance. They also made Maye from scratch—mixing, rolling, and frying the dough until golden and crispy.

More than a taste adventure, the tour offered students an immersive experience of Chinese Spring Festival traditions, from the artistry of folk crafts to the warmth of shared festive food.
