On February 11, 40 international students from CUMT embarked on a “Discover China” cultural study tour, visiting the Xuzhou Folk Museum and the historic Ximatai (Horse-training Terrace) scenic area.

At the Xuzhou Folk Museum, students explored ancient buildings and folk exhibits, learning about local festivals, crafts, and customs. Many were fascinated by intangible cultural heritage items like paper cutting and clay sculpture.

The group then visited Ximatai, where Xiang Yu once trained his troops. Students soaked in the legendary atmosphere and tales of the ancient hero.

In the afternoon, a calligraphy workshop led by Mr. Hou Deyi offered hands-on experience. Students practiced writing auspicious characters like “福” (Fortune) and “春” (Spring), discovering the beauty behind each stroke.

“It’s my first time holding a brush—it feels magical!” said Moud, a student from Niger, “Chinese culture is so profound. I want to learn more”.

The event reflects CUMT’s commitment to integrating cultural immersion into international education, fostering cross-cultural understanding and friendship.
