The Chinese Government Scholarship “Silk Road” Program is a specialized scholarship initiative established by the Ministry of Education of China. It aims to select international students with excellent academic background, outstanding professional ability and future development potential. A brief description of the Program is as follows:

IV. Eligibility:
l Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China and be in good health both mentally and physically;
l Be a regular high school diploma (or equivalent qualification) holder under the age of 25 when applying for bachelor's programs;
l Be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs;
l Be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs;
l Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must submit valid HSK reports with a minimum score of 210 on HSK Level 4. Those who do not meet this language requirement must first complete one year of preparatory study and may begin their major courses only after reaching the required level of Chinese proficiency.
l Applicants for English-taught programs whose native language is not English must meet one of the following English proficiency requirements: IELTS 6.0 or above, TOEFL 85 or above, Duolingo English Test 110 or above.
l Meet the admission requirements of the applied universities in terms of academic ability, language proficiency and other relevant criteria.
V. Scholarship Coverage:
Includes tuition fees, university dormitory or accommodation subsidy, stipend and comprehensive medical insurance.The specific details of scholarship are subject to the information published on the “CSC Study in China” website (www.campuschina.org)
VI. Application Documents:
1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (filled in Chinese or English).
2. Copy of Passport Home Page. If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement (should be valid later than September 2026), please renew it before submitting the application.
3. A notarized certificate of the highest level of education. If the applicant is a student, he/she must submit a certificate of expected graduation or a certificate of attendance issued by his/her school.
4. Academic transcripts. For undergraduate applicants: Scanned transcripts must include complete academic records from all years of high school. For Maste’s/PhD applicants: Scanned transcripts must cover all previous degree programs (Bachelor's, Master's (if any), and PhD (if any)), including the most recent semester's grades. These transcripts shall be issued and stamped by the university’s Registrar’s office, graduate school, or student management department. Transcripts can be provided in Chinese/English and, in the case of languages other than English, an additional English translation and notarization is required.
5. Proof of language proficiency. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must submit valid HSK 4 reports. Those who do not meet this language requirement must first complete one year of Chinese language preparatory study and may begin their major courses only after reaching the required level of Chinese proficiency.
Applicants for English-taught programs shall provide relevant language proficiency certificates according to the universities’ requirements, like IELTS、TOFEL or Duolingo (englishtest.duolingo.com) report.
6. A study plan proposal (focus of material review). A study plan (1000 words or more) in Chinese/English should be submitted.
7. Two recommendation letters (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors. These letters should focus on the objectives of the applicant's study in China, the cooperation between the Chinese institution or the Chinese supervisor and the foreign supervisor or the inter-university exchange, as well as the evaluation of the student's overall ability and future development.
8. Acceptance Letter. Applicants for a Master's or PhD degree are required to provide a letter of acceptance from a professor in our university. 9. A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy shall be kept by the applicant). The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority. Applicants should strictly follow the items required in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The Foreigner Physical Examination Form with missing items, without a photo of the applicant or without a stamp on the photo, or without the signature and stamp of the doctor and hospital is invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.
10. Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, which should normally be issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
11. CSCA score report. Applicants for the undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering are required to submit score reports for STEM, Mathematics, and Physics. Missing any of the required subjects or scoring below 50 in any of them will result in the need to complete one additional year of preparatory study.
12. Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China.
Reminder: Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials.
VII. Application Process:
Step 1: Application Online
1. Visit “CSC Study in China” website and click “Scholarship Application for Students” at http://www.campuschina.org
2. Input Personal Details, and select Program Category “Type B”. The Agency Number of China University of Mining and Technology is 10290.
3. Move on to the section of “Language Proficiency and Study Plan” and upload “Supporting Documents” as requested, then click “Submit” to complete the application.
Step 2: Exam Arrangement
After the applicant's information is approved, CUMT will notify the applicant by email about the exam and interview.

Step 3: Admission
Applicants can check the admission results in the “Chinese Government Scholarship Study Abroad Management Information System”. The applicant shall register at the China University of Mining and Technology within stipulated time. The original highest academic certificate and transcripts, the Foreigner's Medical Examination Form, a certificate of non-criminality and the original language proficiency certificate will be verified at the time of registration.
